Ranging in altitude from 266 to 273 meters, this lieu-dit faces southeast. The soil is 40 to 50 cm thick, and very stony, with jagged fragments of Premeaux limestone, and flint-like chert nodules (chailles). The substratum at Les Gruenchers is composed of Premeaux limestone.
