Domaine Dujac Echezeaux Grand Cru 2019 (For local pickup one day in advance!)
The 2019 Domaine Dujac Echezeaux Grand Cru is a beautifully balanced and elegant expression of Pinot Noir. In the glass, the wine exhibits a vivid ruby hue, with a captivating bouquet of red and black fruits, floral accents, and a touch of exotic spice. Vineyard notes
- The Grand Cru of Les Échezeaux lies to the west and southwest of the Clos de Vougeot, at the mouth of the Combe d'Orveau valley, where the slope is steep (6.5%). The plot ranges in altitude from 277 to 281 meters. The lieu-dit faces southeast. The reddish-brown soil is 40 to 50 cm thick, with light-colored limestone fragments and chert nodules (chailles). The substratum underlying Les Échezeaux is very probably composed of Premeaux limestone.

- The 2019 Echezeaux Grand Cru showed especially well from barrel, and it has realized all that potential in bottle. Wafting from the glass with aromas of red berries, cherries and plums mingled with exotic spices, peonies, blood orange and raw cocoa, it's full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a broad attack and a deep, multidimensional core. Long and perfumed, it's as fine a young Echézeaux as I can remember tasting chez Dujac.
